Agile Interventionists are members of a change team in a mature environment, focusing on the management of change through an agile-lean change team. It employs the usage of interventions to enable a group of individuals to control a change program using the principals of lean and agile as the foundation for all activities.

During the workshop participants will do a deep dive into the implementation of enterprise-level Agile Interventions in medium to large organizations. Individuals will come out with understanding of how agile concepts can be used to manage interventions in any change program - even those that do not include IT or a digital transformation.

Particular attention is given to the relationship between strategical assumptions and the capacity for the teams to operate the new value delivery mechanisms. By abstracting through interventions, change teams are capable of equally managing agile and non-agile transformations.

With case studies and examples from the Energy, Safety and Insurance industries we investigate how Agile Interventions can be used to manage a distributed change team to achieve true Business Agility.

What are agile Interventions?

Agile Interventions is a systematic approach to enterprise transformation that leverages lessons learned from lean-agile environments to support individuals, teams, and organizations in making organizational change. It promotes team-level support while providing reliable scalability, tracking, measurement and reporting of the change program at the enterprise level.
You can read more about it in our about section (under “Agile Intervention Management”), or in our conceptual papers under the “library” section.

An intervention validates multiple transformational experiments against a single strategical assumption, allowing a coherent management structure to oversee the entire program. It is akin to a sprint, but due to its direct relationship to a strategic intent it is more like a Lean Startup hypothesis validation for mature environments. Change becomes strategically targeted iterations driven by the teams.

Learning Objectives
Each of our offerings focuses on a specific topic, but they all share a common objective: they aim to introduce lean/agile learnings into structured environments. Our overarching objective is for you to learn effective practices to influence and catalyze transformation in rapidly evolving environments. So, among other things you will learn:

  • How to apply agile mindset to transformational projects
  • How to co-create plans with lightweight tools
  • How to align strategic need with organizational capability
  • How to scale change through manageable interventions
  • How to combine Lean Thinking, OD Technology and Agile
  • How to manage change programs using agile practices
  • How to respond to challenges with fit-for-purpose solutions
  • How to lead change from any level in the organization
  • How to integrate adaptive practices into day-to-day operations
  • How to nurture Lean Thinking into your teams

Our main area of expertise is the transformation of work environments. While this may be relevant for people from many varied walks of life, there are four profiles which are most common in our events:

  • Change Managers: Who know plenty of change methods and techniques, and are looking for modern ideas designed to work with business agility issues in today’s rapid pace of transformation.
  • Agile Coaches: Interested in scaling and propagating agile transformation throughout the organization while managing and communicating change in a way that makes sense to today’s leaders.
  • Consultants: Who want to take their skills to the next level and into the organizational layer. You’ll learn how to manage impediments beyond the team.
  • Leaders: Who are in it for the long-haul, but feel stuck with how to influence change. You’ll learn how to best facilitate change by learning ideas from many disciplines.

We abide by the “hands-on” method of learning, where each concept is studied as a module that contains theory, practice, and discussion. Regardless of the length of the workshop, these are intense days of collaborative activities where you will learn by doing, sharing and discussing findings in small groups.

Unless explicitly indicated, our events include all you need for a day of intense mental activity: coffee, snacks, lunch, and plenty of breaks. We choose only prime locations to conduct events in, and strive to provide the best experience possible. It is a safe environment where we have fun and come out with plenty to talk about.
